As
Gordon
puts it " I'm big in village halls ! " and October 2006 proves his
point.
He has just completed a successful run of 5 gigs in village halls in the
wilds of Kent. Each one different in character, but similar in the way
that the communities get together to welcome Gordon and support the
event.For Mike and I, it
was the ideal opportunity to catch up with Gordon and Hilary and other
friends such as Jacqui, Larry and Graham within reasonable driving
distance.
We attended 3 concerts out of the 5 : Addington, Brenchley, and Hadlow.
Arranged by Applause Rural Touring Scheme, all were very well attended
and some such as Hadlow sold out. Those audience members who perhaps knew little or nothing about Gordon
and his music beforehand all went away converted.
Gordon's dedication to
his art means that whether the audience is in a village hall or the
Symphony Hall, he always gives 100%, a fact that comes over clearly
during his performances.
As one convert, wrote in her blog:
"Tonight went to see Gordon
Giltrap....totally fantastic!!!! Three hours of brilliant guitar
playing, personality, and entertainment...totally smitten...before going
I was not sure what to expect...
Had a photo taken (thanks Gordon)
and a signed CD...I had to have after hearing 'Lucifer's Cage', a
dramatic piece of music...kind of relax and then jump up!!! Also all the
comedy bits i.e. 'Summer holiday' was quite a surprise!!....
All the history of music and people
I love were being mentioned...I was in total AWE!!!"
Thanks for the great quote Caramel
- I take it you enjoyed the show !
The Dodo's Dream on the electric
guitar is still proving to be one of the highlights of the current show,
however each show is unique due to Gordon's request book allowing the
audience to suggest the tunes for the second half.
As usual, the audiences were
treated to more Giltrap classics than they might have reasonably
expected - Gordon's repertoire is so vast, and his enthusiasm for
playing so great, that shows often over-run, but I've yet to hear an
audience complain !
Photos from all three nights can be

One of those "sticky out tongue moments " Timing the sustain of the baritone guitar Graham - roadie for the day at Brenchley Hadlow saw the green Farida replace with its red twin Gordon is very proud of his new Fylde A big finish on a baby guitar. Gordon has his own "sticky out tongue" moment Gordon finishes the sell out show with a flourish
